ROBOT REALITY INDEX · SOURCE-LINKED PROFILES · CUSTOMER-CONFIRMED DEPLOYMENTS · UPDATED 14 JUL 2026

METHODOLOGY // VERSION 1.0

Evidence before status.

TheMimic records what a source supports, labels who made the claim and leaves unknown fields empty. The method is designed to resist demo inflation.

Robot status is not deployment status

A commercial product can have no verified customer deployment. A discontinued robot can have excellent historical deployment evidence. We therefore maintain separate robot and deployment records.

Robot lifecycle

Research
Lab or research-institution platform; not represented as a general commercial product.
Prototype
Publicly demonstrated development system without a general order path.
Pre-order
An official order or deposit path exists, but broad delivery is not established.
Pilot
The current robot generation is being tested with an organization or in a field setting.
Commercial
A purchase, sales or commercial-contact path exists. This does not mean customer deployment is proven.
Deployed
The robot model has an active, separately sourced customer deployment record.
Historical
Retired or discontinued, preserved for comparison and deployment history.

Deployment evidence levels

Customer confirmed
The customer or operator documents the work. This is the strongest default level.
Partner confirmed
A joint announcement or attributed partner statement supports the record.
Vendor confirmed
Only the robot maker currently documents it. Kept, but visibly weaker.
Public field evidence
Auditable public evidence supports operation even when formal statements are absent.

Deployment stages

Announced → contracted → evaluation → pilot → deployed → completed. Records do not automatically advance. A signed plan stays “contracted” until a new source confirms operation.

Specifications and unknowns

Every displayed specification links to its source. “Company-stated” means TheMimic has not independently benchmarked it. Conflicting values are not averaged; the profile records the strongest current primary source and notes material conflict.

No composite score is published. A single number would imply false precision across radically different tasks, environments and evidence quality.

Corrections and maintenance

Profiles show a last-verified date. Corrections require the exact claim, a source URL and the proposed change. Editorial analysis may interpret evidence; directory fields should remain factual and attributable.

Current index: 73 robot profiles and 12 deployment records. Method last updated 2026-07-14.
